
Buddy Holly (September 7, 1936 - February 3, 1959) was born Charles Hardin Holley. His name was changed to Buddy when his mother decided that the name Charles Hardin Holley was too long for such a little boy. Although his career was cut short, his body of work is considered some of the best in rock music history and his music would influence not only many of his recording contemporaries, but also the future direction music would take by using strings on rock and roll records along with other new and innovative ways to manipulate sounds to create the perfect sound he wanted for his songs
